London woman's skin condition leaves her trapped indoors for 20 YEARS

There are a number of cosmetic skin issues that a lot of people in the world are experiencing and there are a number of cosmetic treatments, lots of clinics including Dubai Cosmetic Surgery, are offering to treat them.  Normally, many people consider acne, scars, lines and wrinkles, pigmentation and sun damage frustrating conditions and want to get them treated by one of various treatment options like skin care treatments, laser treatments, Botox in dubai and dermal fillers. But here we will discuss a skin problem we never heard about before. This skin condition made a woman confined within the walls of her home for nearly 20 years.

Shabana Islam had to quit her career as a fashion designer because of this debilitating condition. Though the condition is yet to be diagnosed by the doctors, specialists believe that it could be chronic dermatitis that is the condition in which sun or light exposure makes the skin inflamed causing burning sensation.

The condition makes Shabana’s skin so much dehydrated that cracks appear on it leading to painful sores and wounds. In order to bring some comfort to her skin, she covers her body with non cosmetic moisturizers and steroid creams all the time to combat dehydration of the skin. But despite of using all the methods to ease her pain and discomfort, nothing worked and her condition remained the same.

She explains her condition by saying, “it’s like I am being burned by hot flames and at the same time splinters of glass are being injected into my skin”.

Bandages get fused in her skin when cream soaks her body and even her tears sting her eyes and face because of cracked skin. It has been nearly twenty years that Shabana is living with this condition. She has even contemplated attempting suicide because of unbearable pain and discomfort caused by her skin condition. According to her, the condition has made her home prison for her.

The surprising thing to know about is that despite of the pain and discomfort she experiences daily, she has started charity – Skin Deep Behind the Mask (SDBM). The purpose of her charity is helping and supporting the people who are suffering from skin diseases and raising the awareness about the conditions for those who are not the sufferers. She started this charity because she has personally experienced the pain and discomfort and she wants to support and guide other sufferers. The charity provides practical help to the sufferers, no matter what skin condition they are suffering from.

In short, Shabana Islam is suffering from such an excruciating and discomforting skin condition that has trapped her in the four walls of her home but her morale is still high and she is helping others suffering from such skin conditions by providing them guidance and support through her charity – Skin Deep Behind the Mask (SDBM).
